Working in Queensland
Queensland has plenty of great work opportunities for the working holiday visitor in both coastal and country areas.
A great way to really experience Queensland, and to keep topping up your budget to continue travelling is on a working holiday. Good news for all working holiday markers is that as of July 1 2006, travellers with working holiday visas can enjoy a series of new benefits. Recent changes to Australia's Working Holiday Scheme mean that by spending a total of just 3 months doing harvesting work you can extend your stay to an additional year. Imagine having 2 years to spend working and holidaying in Queensland!
The opportunities to work in Queensland are endless and range from farm and rural work, including picking fruit, to hospitality and catering and teaching and office work. The type of job you apply for will depend on the season and location. There is currently a shortage of working holiday makers taking up traditional jobs, so there are plenty of opportunities.
If you want to work in Queensland, or anywhere in Australia, you'll need a Working Holiday Visa from the Australian Immigration Department.
