Ironman Cairns is coming to Cairns & Great Barrier Reef in June 2012

Ironman Cairns (previously known as Challenge Cairns) will be staged in Cairns, Yorkey’s Knob, Palm Cove and Port Douglas.  This world famous destination and its breathtaking scenery were specifically selected to host this event. Once the racing is done, spoil yourself with all that Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef have to offer.

Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef is located in the heart of Tropical North Queensland, where experiences are bought to you by nature. On our doorstep is the best of the Great Barrier Reef and world heritage listed tropical rainforest. Cairns as a destination provides easy access to a stunning range of island resorts, is fringed by the coastal villages of Port Douglas, Palm Cove and Mission Beach and is an ideal launching pad for amore intrepid adventures in the outback of Cape York and the Gulf Savannah. The region is also home to the ancient cultures of the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait island people.

Event Info at a glance:	Ironman Cairns Great Barrier Reef will take place on 3 June 2012. 3.8km swim in the warm crystal clear waters off Yorkeys Knob. 180km bike leg that travels up arguably the most scenic coastal roads in Australia towards Port Douglas. 42.2km run that includes the Cairns boardwalk before finishing in the heart of the city of Cairns.
